AAU 101
-
Everyone makes a team — there are no cuts. We place players on teams that match their skill level. Tryouts, usually held in February, are mainly for evaluation. A small $10–$15 fee shows commitment and is applied to your program fee if you join.
-
The time commitment is two practices per week (1.5 hours each) plus games on weekends. A full season runs about 16 weeks if you do both spring and summer sessions. Most tournaments are within 35–45 minutes for local families. We expect players to attend practices, arrive early for games, and come prepared.
-
Most tournaments are local (35–45 minutes away), with occasional longer trips depending on the team’s level. Some teams do travel out of the state and country as well.
-
Players need team uniforms (purchased through the program that they keep) and standard basketball gear like shoes and a ball. They are expected to wear matching uniforms during games.
-
School always comes first — we work with families to balance schedules so players can handle both.
